Sen. Jauch, a co-sponsor of the ban, has not only expressed his support for smoking ban, but more importantly seems to applaud the victory as one of “the will of the people.”
This is concerning, not only from a private property standpoint, but also from a “tyranny of the majority” perspective.
The majority should not in any way rule the minority; however this is not what we see these days. Any minority segment of the population, unless otherwise specifically protected, can be oppressed and terrorized by the majority – and this is allowed to pass because it is “democracy.”
Sen. Jauch, as an elected official, should understand that using government power to rule a minority population in the name of “the will of the people” is tyrannical at best and a blatant mockery of the Republic.
